TEMPEST technology is an information security discipline aimed at protecting equipment against electromagnetic espionage.

The risk:

Every electronic device unintentionally emits radiofrequency waves and conducted signals. A remote attacker can intercept these emissions to reconstruct critical data—such as screen displays, keystrokes, and network traffic—in real time.

The Solution:

“Hardening” (or TEMPEST hardening) involves shielding the chassis to create a Faraday cage, adding filters to communication ports and the power supply, and using low-emission components.

Equipment concerned:

This expertise applies to the entire sensitive digital ecosystem: workstations, servers, network switches, printers, and even cameras or loudspeakers.

Industrial Sovereignty: The Essonne facility

Until recently, France lacked an industrial player capable of locally manufacturing certified equipment. To address this gap, Logic Instrument, through its subsidiary Elexo, opened a TEMPEST production facility in Essonne.

Made in France:

The facility enables the direct design or hardening of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment on national soil, ensuring a complete chain of trust.

High-Security Infrastructure:

The site is a secure facility staffed by authorized personnel. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art semi-anechoic chamber for measuring residual electromagnetic leakage with extreme precision.

Qualified Expertise:

The teams are specifically trained by leading experts, and the plant operates in accordance with ISO 17025 certification.

Strategic Partnership and NATO Certifications

Elexo has structured its product offering through a licensing agreement with Eurotempest, a European leader in the field. This partnership enables the company to offer products that meet the most stringent standards set by NATO (SDIP-27 and SDIP-55) and the Council of the European Union.

The offering comes in three levels of protection tailored to the terrain’s risk level:

FULL / SDIP-27 Level A

FULL / SDIP-27 Level A

Maximum protection for areas where an intruder could be in the immediate vicinity (adjacent room).
IMMEDIATE / SDIP-27 Level B

IMMEDIATE / SDIP-27 Level B

For environments where the attacker is kept at a distance of at least 20 meters.
TACTICAL / SDIP-27 Level C

TACTICAL / SDIP-27 Level C

Intended for areas where physical safety prevents any approach within 100 meters.

A Strategic Market Supported by the French State

This project aligns with a national drive for technological independence. It is supported by the DGA and BPI-Definvest, which have granted a strategic loan of €1 million for the installation of radio-frequency testing equipment.

Target Clients: In addition to the Ministry of the Armed Forces (notably via the MASTOC framework contract with DIRISI), Elexo serves intelligence agencies, critical infrastructure operators (OIVs), and major public institutions.
